| Backways Farmhouse is a comfortable and spacious 17th Century Devon longhouse (just in Somerset) with modern facilities - bathrooms, central heating, digital tv and radio - but retaining its original character with old beams, inglenook fireplaces, cobbled courtyard and rustic barns currently in the possession of our rescued ex-battery hens, a large colony of sparrows and swallows from mid-April to mid-September. We also lodge rescued rabbits through the summer, our own house rabbit and two overfed cats - so regret we are unable to offer a welcome to other pets.
We have two double rooms which are both en-suite and a twin room with a separate private bathroom; these are all located on the first floor. A large guest lounge/breakfast room with inglenook fireplace is on the ground floor. All rooms are accessed by a private guest's entrance. Parking is in our large cobbled courtyard and we are a no smoking property.
Breakfast consists of free range bacon, eggs, sausages with various extras available, cooked as required, cereals, yoghurts, fruit, juices, etc.
We are close to J26 & J27 of the M5. Exmoor, Quantocks, Blackdowns, Somerset Levels and north and south coasts are not far away. Taunton and the Steam Railway are just 15 minnutes away. Many National Trust properties and open gardens are within easy reach.
