| Mike & Michelle Martell would like to Welcome You to the Horse & Groom a unique 17th C country pub, Restaurant and Bed & Breakfast.
We have run the Horse & Groom for ten years and have worked hard to build a hospitable and pleasant place to have a drink, meal or a short break, making sure that you experience good quality food and drink in simple, traditional surroundings whilst enjoying value for money.
When entering the bar for the first time our guests are immediately made to feel welcome and at home by our friendly staff. The red bricked walls, flagstone floors, scrubbed wooden tables, inglenook fireplace, wood panelled bar all help to evoke a cosy, familiar feeling like you have always belonged here.
Whether you are visiting us on business or a well earned leisure break, we would like to make your stay here as comfortable as possible. We have eleven en-suite twin and double rooms, each with a colour TV and tea & coffee facilities at very reasonable rates. The rooms are situated in a tasteful flint barn conversion adjacent to the pub which blends in perfectly with the pub itself and is full of character; a far cry from some hotels that lack the individuality and charm of the Horse & Groom.
Accommodation includes bedrooms with a choice of either a bath or shower, disabled facilities and ample parking very close to the rooms. Your stay will include a traditional English Breakfast, individually cooked using the best ingredients including local butchers sausages … all in the price!
The Horse & Groom is situated in East Ashling, a country village not far from the historic City of Chichester lying at the foot of the South Downs and just a short distance from the sea. Nearby are Chichester and Langstone harbours with a plethora of Marinas and Sailing Clubs. Just to the North is Kingley Vale with its Iron Age burial mounds and stunning views from Brighton in the East to Southampton in the West, the Isle of Wight and all of Portsmouth Harbour, including the Royal Navy Fleet when it is in port. To the South is historic Bosham where King Canute tried to hold back the tide, and the Saxon Church where his daughter is buried.
The local countryside and coastline offer a wide range of activities and culture for guests including walking, sailing, windsurfing, riding, golf, fishing, mountain biking, polo, road cycling, horse racing, flying, cathedrals, theatre, historic sites, stately homes, castles and classic cinema.
